Tracy Arballo’s German shepherd Taylor loves playing outside near their home in Fontana, California. Recently, Taylor was out playing when her day took a dangerous turn, and what happened next has left everyone feeling very surprised.
In the Arballo family’s backyard, there is a long tunnel that runs underneath the concrete patio. On this particular day, Taylor found herself several feet deep in the tunnel. This is a situation that she normally would have been able to get herself out of, but something was in her way that made that impossible.
Taylor could not get out because Godzilla was in her way.
Godzilla is an 80-pound tortoise who had apparently dug the tunnel in the first place as a place to hibernate during the winter. The tunnel was not big enough for the both of them, which is how Taylor and Godzilla found themselves wedged around six feet into the tunnel together. They were trapped side-by-side, and they desperately needed help.
Tracy was not able to free the animals, so she was left with no choice but to call the fire department. Firefighters teamed up with the Arballo family to try and get Godzilla to move for thirty minutes, but the tortoise just would not budge.
Finally, they were able to get Godzilla to move by offering her some lettuce, which is her favorite snack. As soon as Godzilla moved to get the lettuce, Taylor was able to escape the hole once and for all!
