A group of men were out working on the Sindi Dam at Parnu River in Estonia this cold winter when they saw something in the icy water that had them leaping to action.
As the men worked, they noticed what they thought was a dog struggling to stay afloat in the cold water. The men rushed to rescue the creature, and once they had him out of the water, they realized it was not a dog at all. Instead, it was a young male wolf!

Rando Kartsepp, Robin Sillamäe and Erki Väli were all worried about how the animal would react to being saved, but they could not leave him to die in the water, so they went about rescuing him anyway. The river was full of ice, so it was difficult for them to create a clear path to save the wolf. It took them some time, but they still managed to rescue him.
Once they had him out of the water, the men wrapped the wolf in a towel and rushed him to the nearest animal clinic.

Veterinarians quickly treated the wolf and fitted him with a GPS collar so that they could help him in the future if needed. He made such a quick recovery that they were even able to release him back into the wild that very same day.

We applaud these men for taking the time to rescue a creature in need despite the fact that they could have been harmed themselves. We need more people like them in the world!
