Pep rallies are always a fun experience as they give students a chance to let their school spirit shine. During a Lake Mary High School in Florida, teachers gave their students a surprise of a lifetime when they performed an incredible dance routine that they had secretly spent months practicing for.
The video below this story shows a dance performance by the school’s step dance team the Lake Mary Marionettes, who are nothing short of incredible.

The Lake Mary Marionettes have won an astounding 31 national championships, including the 2018 NDA National Championships in Varsity Kick, Team Performance, and JV Kick. The routine involves incredibly intricate choreography that many professional dancers would not be able to perform, but these girls manage to do it with ease!

The best part of the routine comes when the team introduce their surprise guests: their teachers!

Stephanie Kersten, the team’s coach, had each of the girls pick a faculty member to be their partners in the performance. Once the faculty members were chosen, Stephanie sent them all videos instructing them of their dance moves, and the teachers spent weeks practicing after school.
The faculty members that took part in the dance included the principal, who was the captain of the step team when she was a student at Lake Mary High School many years ago!

Stephanie explained that the goal of this routine was to show “unity” between students and faculty at the school.
“The teachers and staff members doing that really helped drop that line between them and their students,” she said. “Those adults really, really want to connect with those kids in any way possible, even if it means going out there and making themselves vulnerable, dancing even if they can’t. The student body went crazy for it!”
She added that she believes “the connection between kids and schools is a healthy one, and we want to promote that.”
