Bullying is sadly something that millions of children go through every day in this country. Sadly, Haley Olsen is a seventh grade girl who knows all too well what it’s like to be bullied.

Haley is one of seven children, so her family can’t afford to buy her the latest trendy clothes. Other girls at school relentlessly teased Haley for wearing hand me downs, leaving the young girl completely devastated.

Life was so rough for Haley at Atkinson Middle School in Phoenix, Arizona that she would often come home in tears.

“I always came home crying and stuff to my parents saying how I didn’t want to go to school anymore, I wanted to be home schooled,” she said.

Mariah Andrew is a classmate of Haley who saw potential in her, so she decided to befriend her. Mariah then hatched a plan to help Haley go from being a social pariah to being the queen bee of the school!

After asking Haley for her sizes, Mariah went out and bought her clothes and shoes. When she presented them to Haley in a backpack, the bullied student was completely stunned.

“I was jumping all over the place screaming how happy I was,” she said.

When this story went viral, Sonoran Smile Orthodontics even donated some free dental work to Haley. This just goes to show how powerful one act of kindness can be!

“It made me feel happy at first and the day that I gave it to her, I was trying so hard not to cry,” Mariah said of the moment she gave her friend the clothes.
