Bullying is something that millions of American children go through every day, and for teachers, it is a very hard thing to watch. That’s why it’s so nice to see a story about a teacher going above and beyond to help one of her bullied students!

Shannon Grimm is a 31 year-old kindergarten teacher at Meador Elementary School in Willis, Texas who recently noticed that her 5 year-old student Priscilla Perez was becoming quieter in class. Priscilla had recently gotten a haircut, and she was sad that her classmates were mocking her by saying that her haircut made her “look like a boy.” She was so upset by this that she started wearing a hat to school and refused to take it off. That’s when Shannon realized she needed to do something to help her.

After her students returned from winter break, they were stunned to see that Shannon had chopped off her waist-length hair and gotten the same haircut as Priscilla!

“I told them, ‘I think I look beautiful. Don’t you think I do?’” Shannon said. “I had to show them boys have long hair like girls and girls have short hair like boys.”

Shannon also brought matching bows to school so that she could wear matching bows with Priscilla each day. Shannon’s gesture had a huge effect on Priscilla, as the little girl’s confidence skyrocketed!

Shannon said that Priscilla told her, “When I get big like you, I will have friends who will be mean to me, but I will be nice to them just like you.”
