Jared Stice was working his normal shift at a QuikTrip store in Tulsa, Oklahoma one day when he heard 91 year-old Arthur McAfee came in asking if anyone knew how to change a tire. Without hesitating, Jared said he knew how to change a tire and followed him outside.

Jared did not know the man. All he knew was that somebody needed his help, and he was all too happy to oblige.

Jared had no idea that someone was taking a photo of him as he was changing the tire and that he was about to become a viral sensation! It was only later that night that Jared’s girlfriend texted him to let him know that the photo was all over the internet.

Arthur, who was being treated for skin cancer at the time, was also unaware that the photo was making the rounds until his sister from out of state saw it and recognized him.

Jared was stunned that his simple act of kindness touched the hearts of so many people. To him, changing a tire for a stranger was a perfectly natural thing that anyone would do.

With so much negativity in the world today, Jared’s act of kindness showed everyone that there really are still people out there doing good for others in the world. We should all be a little more like Jared and pay it forward by doing something kind for a stranger the next time we have the opportunity to do so!
