An art teacher from Texas recently decided to do something big to cheer up her students after noticing that they were becoming very stressed out.

Brady Sloane teaches art to 48 eighth graders at Madison Middle School in Abilene. Her students are between two pre-Advanced Placement classes, and most of them come from poor families. When she noticed many of her students getting overwhelmed with their workloads, she decided to draw some inspiration from the legendary artist Bob Ross to give them a huge surprise.

Brady decided to host a Bob Ross flash mob for her students, and she was able to raise $500 to buy enough paints for four dozen students. On top of that, she was able to create 48 Bob Ross costumes with her students as well!

“When my students were told about this project, they were so excited, we immediately began putting together costumes and sourcing wigs,” Brady said.

The flash mob finally took place last week, and it began with Brady screening an episode of Ross’s popular PBS instructional television show, ‘The Joy of Painting’ in the school auditorium. As the episode played, her students used music stands as makeshift easels as they painted their own creations while dressed like Ross. Brady said that the event could not have gone any better!

“The day of the event was amazing,” Brady said. “Students came in, got their wigs on and got to work! They worked so hard and had great focus… they are always great workers and do well in my class, but I was so proud of them!”

What a hilarious way to honor Ross and bring humor to these stressed students!
