Aretha Franklin songs are notoriously difficult for even the most talented musicians to sing, so when Simon Cowell heard that 14-year-old Britain’s Got Talent contestant Destiny Chukunyere planned to sing the legendary singer’s song “Think” for her audition, he was expecting her to crash and burn. As soon as Destiny started to sing, however, Simon knew that they had a star in their midst.

Though she knew it would be difficult to pull off the song, Destiny also felt that the song was the perfect way to showcase her voice.

As soon as Destiny finished her song, the judges and audience alike gave her a standing ovation. Simon did not hesitate to let her know that she had done an amazing job.

“I’ve been waiting for someone to come out who we think could be a star – and guess who it is? You!” he said.

Needless to say, Destiny moved on to the next round!

Destiny ended up making it all the way to the semi-finals before being eliminated, but many have hailed her as someone who will become a huge star one day. Video of her audition has since gone viral, earning her fans all over the globe!
