With all of the negativity in the world today, it can be easy to forget that there are still people around who are doing good for others in the world. That’s why it’s always heartwarming to see stories like this in which a Good Samaritan goes above and beyond to help someone else who needs it!

Mandy Preston and her son Vaughn are avid bicyclists who were out on a ride one day when they stopped at a convenience store in Gillitts, South Africa.

While they were there, Mandy and Vaughn ran into a gas attendant named Tony, who saw right away that the young boy was not feeling well, and he immediately stepped in to help him.

“Within moments the attendant had him laughing and smiling,” Mandy recalled.

Mandy explained that Tony’s actions touched her heart, as he was clearly doing whatever it took to bring a smile to her son’s face.

“Over the years I’ve tried to live like that and teach my child to do the same,” she said.

Vaughn and Tony have become so close that they regularly stop to chat with him, and he always makes time for the young boy.

“(He) listens so obligingly to him as he chatters away,” his mother explained.

One day, Tony asked Mandy and Vaughn if they would keep an eye out for a reasonably priced bike. Vaughn instead decided to raise money for the bike himself, and he approached his mother that night with money he had been saving to pay for a vacation.

“(He) asked if I really wanted a holiday and upon asking why, he said he would rather put his savings toward helping Tony get his bike,” Mandy said.

They ended up going to a store called Game with the money and buying a bike, and the moment soon came to present it to Tony!

“Our children make us proud on so many occasions but today my heart and his is so full of the joy at the kind man’s face as he, rather stunned accepted his gift from this 10-year-old boy,” Mandy recounted.

After Mandy’s post went viral, Game decided to help them out in a big way.

“Vaughn had such ‘good game,’ we just had to get on board!” the store said in a statement. “So we’re giving Tony a Game voucher for the same value as his new bike! And of course we can’t forget about you Vaughn, so we’ll be sending one your way, too. Together we can make the world a better place.”

Luis Farias, the owner of the gas station, also decided to pay it forward.

“Dear Mandy and Vaughn, Your kind gesture and generosity is unmatched,” Luis said. “We at Caltex Gillitts would like to thank you for your support and generosity and to show our appreciate, we would like to make Vaughn’s dream holiday come true and it’s on us.”

This just goes to show that, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
