An anonymous eighth grade student from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania has just gone public to speak out about the school lunches that are being served at her school.

The student explained that she has the last lunch period of the day, which means that the cafeteria is often sold out of many quality options. By the time she gets to the cafeteria, hamburgers are typically the only things left to eat. She says the burgers are virtually inedible.

“The burgers are pink and they don’t look like they’re cooked at all,” the eighth grader said.

The girl went on to say that she buys the burger, which comes with an orange, and ends up throwing everything away besides the fruit and milk. The student admits that by the end of the school day, she is still hungry.

After posting a photo of the gross hamburger to social media, it went viral and other students started sharing their similar experiences with cafeteria food. Sadly, the girl said that the burgers typically look like this every single day.

“It just looks nasty,” the girl said. “The burgers and pink and don’t look like they’re cooked at all.”

Tyson Foods, the manufacturer that supplies the burgers, released a brief statement after photos of the burger went viral.

“Sometimes fully-cooked meat can revert back to a pinkish color if it’s placed for an extended period of time in a high-temperature/low-oxygen container or appliance, such as a steam pan or holding oven,” the statement read.
