Bree Taylor is a dog owner from Dalby in southeast Queensland, Australia who was out for a walk with her dog Koda one day when she heard a rustling in the grass. When she went to take a closer look, she was stunned to see ten kittens looking up at her!

When she saw the kittens, Bree was leery that a mother cat was nearby waiting to pounce on her and her dog to protect her babies.
“Honestly I thought they were little ferals coming out to attack my puppy and sort of stood back ‘cause I thought momma cat was going to come out,” Bree said.
When no mother cat appeared, Bree let her guard down and started interacting with the kittens.

It didn’t take long for Bree to see that all the kittens wanted was a little bit of love.
“I just couldn’t believe there were ten and I was just more surprised that all they wanted was a cuddle. They were very hungry. I knew they weren’t feral because they weren’t hissing they were meowing and jumping on me. They definitely knew what a human was.”
Bree immediately knew that she had to get them to safety and take them home.
“I was more nervous they were going to get run over by a truck and the fact I couldn’t carry them all,” she said.
Bree decided that the best course of action was to walk her dog home, grab something to put the kittens in, and come back. When she began to walk home, however, she was surprised to see that the kittens were following her!

The kittens practically chased Bree the 1.5 miles it took to get to her house! While nearly all of the kittens could keep up, the runt of the litter had some trouble.
“Because it was so much smaller and it was freezing and it was at least a kilometre back home. It laid down and didn’t want to walk anymore,” Bree said. She added that she picked the kitten up and carried it with her the rest of the way home.
Once she spent some time giving the cats some TLC at her house, Bree realized it was time to find them forever homes.

Bree, a huge animal lover, could not believe that someone would just abandon the kittens.
“I was disgusted that someone had just dumped them,” she said.
When Bree took to social media to tell their story, she was stunned when her post went viral, and donations quickly started pouring in to help the kittens.

“It was a big help,” she said of the donations.
Bree has since managed to find forever homes for 9 of the 10 kittens, but she just had to keep one of them herself!

Bree has some closing words for whoever dumped these kittens.
“If you can’t afford to desex your cat, or look after and find homes for kittens don’t own a cat,” she said. “Don’t dump them on the road after they are already reliant on humans — it’s cruelty.”
We applaud Bree for helping these kittens find the forever homes that they deserve!
