Battling anxiety can be incredibly difficult for humans, so imagine how hard it is for dogs!

Joule is an adorable vizsla who gets very anxious whenever her owner leaves the house. It seems that each time her owner leaves, Joule does not think that she is coming back!

Joule was adopted four years ago by Brenna Eckert, who saw right away that she was an anxious canine.

“Joule had a lot of anxiety when we first adopted her,” Brenna said. “We worked one-on-one with a dog behaviorist to help work through some of her issues.”

Brenna calls Joule a “velcro dog” because the animal needs to stay close to her whenever she is home. Soon after adopting Joule, Brenna’s family adopted an orange tabby kitten named Kelvin, who hit it off with the dog right away.

“The animal shelters had given each of them a temporary name before we adopted them,” Brenna explained. “Kelvin’s shelter name was Socks and Joule’s shelter name was Sandals. How ironic that Socks and Sandals make such a great pair!”

Brenna was stunned by how close Joule and Kelvin were from the very beginning! She didn’t know just how close they were until she set up a security camera in her home, and it captured an adorable moment that has since gone viral.

The video shows Joule showing symptoms of separation anxiety after Brenna left for work, and Kelvin responds by gently comforting her. Kelvin then stayed by Joule’s side comforting her the entire time Brenna was at work!

“We noticed that Kelvin and Joule were laying on the couch together almost every day,” Brenna said. “I moved the camera to get a closer view of the couch and was amazed to see that they weren’t just sharing the couch, but they were snuggling up against each other.”

It’s so great to see a cat and a dog have such a strong bond! Joule and Kelvin really are lucky to have each other!
