Some animals love hearing the sound of music. They’ve been known to bob their heads and dance to the beat, but not all animals seem to appreciate a good rhythm.

So when the Golden Retriever in the video below hears his little human practicing her flute, he can’t help but put in his two cents. Whether he likes her music or not is still up in the air. As soon as she starts playing you can hear the dog start a low, rumbling growl. Eventually, as she continues to play, his growls turn into howls and she can’t help but stop and laugh.

The occurrence isn’t unusual either. He just so happens to have this response so often that he has earned the nickname “grumpy dog.” But we don’t know just how often he has to listen to the practicing. As a parent, we may spend countless hours listening to our child practice their instrument. Maybe you even enjoy listening to it. But that isn’t the case with everyone as this video clearly shows.

The girl begins playing the tune, “Are You Sleeping”, and maybe this dog was simply singing along, but he might have been pointing out that he really was sleeping and he’d had enough.
