Adam Lambert didn’t manage to pull off a first place finish in the eight season of American Idol, but he did grab second place. While that may seem like a big accomplishment for some people, it wasn’t enough for Lambert.
He went on to create a successful album titled “For Your Entertainment” that featured the hit song “Whataya Want From Me” that earned him a nomination for a Grammy award. But it was the next step in his career that really sent Lambert to stardom. He joined the surviving members of the band Queen for a six concert tour where people compared Lambert to the iconic Freddie Mercury.
The tour was so successful that the band and Lambert have continued performing and touring still today. Brian May, a close friend of Mercury, says that Lambert has a strange voice with a range and quality that is like no other. “I’ve seen Adam develop just like I watched Freddie develop,” said May.
For many, the idea of trying to fill the shoes of a such a star would have been an unthinkable challenge, but Lambert took it on and excelled. This wouldn’t be the last star’s shoes that he tried to fill though.
After taking on the role of Mercury, Lambert went on to appear at a ceremony that honored Cher’s contribution to the entertainment world and it was there that Lambert showed just how talented he is.
He performed Cher’s hit song, “Believe” and his rendition was so beautiful that it even brought Cher to tears. By the end of the performance, the whole audience was on their feet.
