We all love to spend the holidays at home with our families and friends, but not everyone can do that. Think of all the places that don’t close over the holidays like hospitals and airlines.
Flight attendant Pierce Vaughan was one of those unlucky people who was scheduled to work not only on Christmas Day, but on Christmas Eve too. This was one holiday she was just going to have to spend with her family at a later date.
However, her dad, Hal, decided he was determined to spend the holidays with his daughter. So instead of rescheduling the celebration for a later date, he got creative. To be certain that he got to spend the holidays with Pierce, Hal booked a seat on not just one of her flights, but on all six of them that were scheduled over the holidays.
It was fellow passenger Mike Levy that brought the limelight to Hal’s kind holiday gesture. The two were seated together on a flight from Fort Myers to Detroit. Levy realized what Hal was up to, snapped a photo with Hal and posted it to social media praising Hal for his sweet gesture and love for his daughter. After all, not all fathers would go to such extremes to spend the holiday with their child.
The social media post was shared thousands of time and Pierce eventually republished on her own Facebook page. She says she was overjoyed to see her father’s story hit social media.

“Dad’s first trip using his benefits was a success,” said Pierce. “A special thanks to all of the patient, wonderful gate agents around the country and my perfect crew. He made it on every flight and even got first class RSW-DTW (Christmas miracle).”
Delta, the airline that Pierce works for, has released a statement thanking their flight attendant for her hard work. “We appreciate all of our employees for working during the holidays to serve Delta customers. We love seeing this awesome Dad having the chance to spend Christmas with his daughter – even while crisscrossing the country at 30,000 feet.”

How inspiring is this story!? I know a few dads that could learn a lesson from this amazing father. Be sure to share this heartwarming story with your family and friends.
