The season finale for the 15th season of the music television show The Voice wrapped up with an episode that just aired days before Christmas. As if it wasn’t enough for Kelly Clarkson’s team member to win the season, Clarkson helped wrap up the show with a beautiful performance.

Chevel Shepherd, a 16-year-old country singer was the star for Clarkson’s team, and gave several outstanding performances this season, but it was Clarkson and another powerhouse vocalist that teamed up for the season finale.

Fellow judge Jennifer Hudson and Clarkson teamed up to perform the Christmas classic “O Holy Night” on a candlelit stage. They were backed by a group of chorus singers to top off the show. Hudson wore a feathered white gown and Clarkson wore a black sparkly gown. The two Grammy winners had a bit of a yin and yang performance as they took turns performing parts of the song and then finally joined together.

While you can’t tell it much in the video below, Clarkson had been sick the week leading up to the performance and her voice was a bit raspier than normal.

“I told Jennifer to hit her notes louder so that people wouldn’t notice how sick I was,” said Clarkson. Even knowing that she wasn’t feeling well, the crowd wasn’t disappointed with the performance the duo gave.

This isn’t the first time, however, that the singers have performed this same holiday classic. Clarkson sang it at the Rockefeller Center for the Christmas tree lighting in 2003. Then in 2009, Hudson sang “O Holy Night” as part of her ABC television special Jennifer Hudson: I’ll Be Home for Christmas. While both of their solo performances were stellar, you still can’t top it when two dynamite singers team up.

Check out the video below of their performance and be sure to share it with your family and friends.
