Jim Passmore is a resident of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma who loves to take walks with his two dogs. When he recently embarked on a walk with them, however, he had no idea that his life was about to change forever!
As they walked along a creek, Jim spotted what at first looked like a log in the water. It was only when he got closer that he noticed fur and realized that it was a living creature.
The closer Jim got, the more it became clear that a weak little creature was struggling for survival. As Jim walked closer to the mystery creature, his dogs started to growl viscerally, making it obvious that they did not want him to go any closer. Jim was puzzled by this, as it is very unusual for his dogs to behave this way.
Jim ignored his dogs and continued to get closer. He soon noticed an animal cage, which he also thought was odd. As he looked at the creature again, he thought it might be a beaver, but the cage made him think it was something else entirely.
Jim then looked in the cage and saw feces all over it as well as a dirty blanket. He then realized that someone had purposely chained the animal inside the cage, which had tons of large marks on it and a huge bite on the side.
When Jim got closer to the mysterious creature in the water, he realized that it was a dog who desperately needed help!
Jim tried to lift the dog up, but he was overweight and too submerged in the water for him to successfully do so. The dog also did not seem to want people touching him.
Jim called the police, and when officers arrived, they teamed up with him to put a jersey over the dog’s head to make sure he could not bite them. They then put a rope around the dog, and after lots of pulling, they finally got him out of the mud!
Rescuers named the dog, an 8 year-old collie mix, Teddy. They speculated that he had been hit by a car, and that his owner had abandoned him in the woods rather than get him medical help.
Teddy has since made a full recovery and been adopted by the manager of the Alta Vista Animal Hospital! We’re so glad his story had a happy ending!
