Bullying is a problem in schools all over the United States. The victims can be older, younger, male, or female. Sadly, it is becoming more and more common instead of less. One of the victims of this behavior is a 5th grader named Delanie Marcotte of New Hampshire. Delanie hated going to school because she says she gets bullied both physically and verbally by her classmates.

Her family reached out to the school district in hopes of them stopping the behavior, but felt let down by the response they gave. So in July 2018, Delanie and her parents headed to a school board meeting. They hoped to tell the board members about the problem in the school by sharing Delanie’s story with them. Her family hoped that they would be motivated to take action.

Knowing they would only have a limited time to speak, Delanie wrote down a few words that she wanted to share, although she wasn’t certain she would be brave enough to do it. When the time came for the Marcotte family to address the board, Delanie’s father Todd started to stand up. That’s when Delanie asked if she could address them herself.

The brave little girl took a seat in front of the eight member board and addressed them herself. She shared her experiences with them, and by the end of the story, the room was speechless.

Delanie’s powerful words have since went on to be shared by people all over the country. Check out the video of Delanie addressing the board in the video below and be sure to share it with your family and friends.
