Sandra Bullock is known for being one of the most beloved stars in Hollywood. However, while her career has been incredibly successful, her love life has been anything but that.
Back in 1996, Sandra opened up about how hard it was for her to find the right person.
“For a year I was by myself trying to date and I’m telling you dating was the worst experience I ever had,” she said at the time. “I seem to have attracted everyone whose intentions were not the best. Just people who’s intentions were so not in tune morally with mine. They were nice people but they just weren’t suited for me and that’s hard because I seriously thought I’m never ever going to find anybody that will love me and just enjoy life.”
Sandra first found love with Tate Donovan after meeting him on the set of Love Potion No. 9, and though things fell apart for them, she has said that he is still an important part of her life.
“I adored Tate so much. It’s like they say, there’s one person in your life, and Tate and I are closer than any two people I’ve ever experienced in my life,” she said. “There’s nobody that means more to me, and I know for a fact that I mean the most to him, in that certain way. I can’t explain why things worked out the way they did. We both know why it happened.”
Sandra went on to date actors, Matthew McConaughey and Ryan Gossling before marrying “Monster Garage” star Jesse James. While Hollywood scoffed at them as a couple, Sandra defended their relationship by saying, “No one knows what someone is like based on appearance.”
Unfortunately, days after Sandra won her Oscar in 2010, the entire world learned that Jesse had been cheating on her. At the time of their split, the couple were in the process of adopting a little boy named Louis, and Sandra decided to move forward with the adoption on her own.
Sandra raised Louis as a single mother, and in 2015, she adopted a little girl named Laila to join him.
“When you adopt a child, there’s a placement period, and if something goes sideways, they have the right to take the child away. It’s a tenuous, strenuous six months,” Sandra said, adding that she had to hide her daughter from the paparazzi for half a year.
“We had an allergy scare that sent us to the ER, and we were followed by the paparazzi, so the word was out that I had another child,” Sandra said. “And everyone wanted photos. It was heartbreaking. Louis would hear a helicopter or drone, and he’d run to get his sister and drag her across the lawn and hide her under the trampoline. So poor Laila had PTSD. But it took the bounty off once we did those official photos. Everything’s a learning experience.”
Since adopting Laila, Sandra has managed to find love once again with her boyfriend, photographer Bryan Randall. Bryan shot the photos of Sandra with her children after Laila’s adoption, and they have been inseparable ever since.
“He’s super kind. For the kids he’s sort of No. 1 and I’m No. 2,” Sandra said of Bryan. “But I get it because he’s more fun and has better treats.”
Sources close to Sandra have said that the two are “soulmates” and that they “have built a great life together and the kids are the centerpiece.”
We’re so glad that after all these years, Sandra has finally found the happiness that she deserves.
