One of the things that happens this time of year in addition to decorating our homes, shopping for gifts, and planning family get togethers is writing out and sending Christmas cards. While some people send out Christmas cards with a nice message and maybe a family photo, others really enjoy getting into the spirit of things and adding a funny touch.

The Bergeron family is one of those families. They go above and beyond when sending out Christmas cards to their family and friends and they’ve been doing it for the last 16 years.

Mike Bergeron and his wife Laura thought it would be funny to send out a funny photograph wearing ugly outfits. It was so much fun that they’ve continued to do it every year and started including their children in the fun as their family has grown.

Each year their Christmas card has a theme and they’ve increased in funny factor each year. Check out the cards they’ve done each year below. You won’t believe it!

2003, Forty and Fighting It – This was the very first card they sent out. Mike repeatedly asked the photographer to shine the light above his head but the photographer told him it made him look bald. He explained that’s what he wanted. She had no idea they were in costumes until that moment.

2004, We’re Dreaming of a White Trash Christmas – When the couple picked up these cards from JC Penney the manager told them to come back after their baby was born. Mike quickly explained that she wasn’t really pregnant and that it was a costume. He’d never let his pregnant wife smoke or drink.

2005, Your Aunt and Uncle Who Live in the Midwest – Mike says he always knew he’d be bald. At the age of 32, he knew his days were numbered, so he had Laura shave the hair off the top of his head for the photo and he’s been bald since. After the photo he shaved it all off and when people asked, he told them he had joined a cult.

2006, A Very Special Christmas – Mike says his friend Jeremy worked in a photo studio during the holidays. If a photo was funny, he would print himself a copy and take it home. This year, Mike and Laura tried to recreate one of the photos that they thought was particularly goofy. He says they fell short of the original, but think it’s still pretty good.

2007, American Christmas – This one is pretty self explanatory. A modern take on an old classic.

2008, Merry Krishnas – This year they started their card making a bit late, so when they went to JC Penney there was an hour long wait. They actually walked through the mall and ate in the food court while in costume.

2009, Feliz Navidad – Mike says this was one of his favorites because the day of the photo shoot they walked around the mall until it was their turn for their photo. He says no one would make eye contact with him.

2010, Olan Mills Family Portrait from 1981- If you remember the awkward family photos from the 1980’s you’ll know that they nailed this one. This is also the first year where Laura and Mike got to add a bundle of joy to the mix.

2011 – The Unibrows – Their daughter Gigi added a new dimension to the family photos and this year they were sure to include her in the fun too.

2012, A Goth Christmas – If this is your family legacy, you might as well embrace it.

2013, Jazz Hands – Look at Laura and Gigi getting into the fun of this one. Juju, on the other hand, just wasn’t having it.

2014, The Holidays Are Such a Drag – Mike may not make the perfect wife, but Laura actually makes a pretty convincing job of being a man, as long as that man is a car salesman from 1980.

2015, Les Modeles (AKA Euro Trash) – His shoes $850. Her shoes $950. Spending your holiday with the Bergerons – priceless.

2016, Cussin Jerry – The facial expressions that Mike and Laura have just add even more to this hilarious and adorable card. Even Gigi was picking her nose!

2017, Ginger in Paradise – If you’re a red head, the sunshine can be tough on you, which is why this card is absolutely brilliant. Dressed in sunburns and bushy red hair, this card was a hit. Don’t forget to check out their signatures too.

2018 – The West Texans – As the girls have gotten older, the family utilized their cuteness. They turned them into little beauty pageant competitors and now we can’t wait to see what this family will be up to next year.

Have you ever made a goofy Christmas card? Be sure to share these funny cards with your family and friends. They’re sure to get a good laugh out of them.
