Ever since legendary radio personality Casey Kasem passed away, a massive legal battle has been taking place between his wife Jean Kasem and his three children. Last month, Jean filed a police report claiming that the three children Casey had from a previous marriage were responsible for his death, and a police investigation was launched. Now, the results of this investigation have been revealed.
Gig Harbor Police Chief Kelly Busey has just announced that no evidence of a crime taking place was found, and that he has forwarded his team’s findings to Pierce County prosecutors for review. The police department added in a statement that there is “no evidence of collusion between the family members and doctors that would construe any part of this incident to be considered a homicide.”
“We’re very grateful to the police department for conducting this investigation and concluding there is no evidence to support Jean’s wildly ridiculous claims,” Julie Kasem, Casey’s daughter, said in a statement. Jean has yet to comment at the time of this writing.

Casey passed away at the age of 82 from a form of dementia and a bed sore. In the years before his death, Jean and her three stepchildren fought constantly over his care and their visitation rights to come see him. Just before his death, Jean controversially checked him out of a Los Angeles medical facility where he was receiving round-the-clock care and brought him to Washington state, claiming that she did so to protect his privacy.
Casey’s children were livid about this and tried to stop Jean, but their efforts were in vain. In 2015, police investigated Jean and concluded that she should not be charged with elder abuse. The children and Casey’s brother have since filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Jean, which is still pending at this time.
