Horrifying footage is going viral this week showing the moment a hang glider was forced to cling on for his life after his instructor failed to secure his safety harness.

Chris Gursky, an auto-parts dealer from Florida, decided to try out hang gliding during a vacation in Switzerland in his wife. Chris figured that it would be a safe and fun way to see the sights from above, but as soon as he jumped off the 4,000ft mountain edge, he found himself having to hold on for dear life.

“I was just trying to stay calm, trying to hold on for dear life… I looked down once and I thought to myself ‘this is it, I’m going to fall to my death. I’m a goner,'” he later recounted. “I just locked on and held on as long as I could.”

Within seconds, Chris was struggling to hold on.

“I was losing grip with my right hand, that was holding onto a strap on the pilot’s right shoulder,” he said. “He was trying to make a beeline to the landing field as he knew what the situation could bring.”

Miraculously, Chris does not blame the instructor at all.

“While the pilot made a critical error in our pre-flight set-up by not attaching me to the glider, he did all he could to get me down to the ground as quickly as possible while grabbing on to my harness and flying with one hand,” he said.

Chris was left with a wrist fracture, but he was discharged from the hospital the day he got there. In a surprising twist, Chris plans to try hang gliding again!

“I will go hang gliding again as I did not enjoy my first flight,” he said.

Now that is one brave man! Watch his wild ride below!
