Dogs are known for being empathetic and compassionate to humans, but apparently that compassion extends to more than just their human sidekicks.

Habs is a cocker spaniel that has lived with Jacqueline Estey for three years, and he rarely leaves her side. But Jacqueline isn’t the only one that Habs cares for. He’s also devoted to a giant stuffed bear.

Jacqueline says that Habs will carry the giant bear all around the house, play with it, and spend hours cuddling with his fluffy friend. Consequently, the big bear started looking a bit ragged. So Jacqueline nabbed the bear one day when Habs was napping and decided to give him a good wash in the laundry. Later when Habs woke up from his nap, Jacqueline couldn’t find him anywhere.

She searched all over the house, and you won’t believe where she finally found Habs. He was sitting in front of the washer concerned about the safety and well-being of his big friend who he could see tumbling about inside. Jacqueline says Habs has never watched the washing machine before, and she is certain that he was doing it simply because of what he could see inside. He sat there for the entire cycle and wouldn’t leave.

Later that same night, Jacqueline woke up to the sound of Habs scratching at the dryer door. Again, he was looking frantically for his bear. This time the bear wasn’t there.

Jacqueline walked Habs downstairs and showed him where his bear was and he laid down next to it and wouldn’t leave it’s side. Jacqueline was so amused by the incident that she shared her story and a video on social media.

It didn’t take long before other people were sharing similar stories. Apparently being concerned for the well-being of their favorite pal or toy isn’t just something that Habs does.

Several people shared stories and photos of their dogs doing the same thing. Everything from watching their stuffed animals in the washer or dryer, to laying and staring at them longingly while they dried on the clothes line.

Check out Jacqueline’s video below as she discovers Habs waiting patiently for his best friend in the laundry room and be sure to share it with your family and friends.
