It seemed like any other morning to Katie Egger Makris. She had rushed to the gym and was getting ready to teach a workout class when she received a notice from her home security provider on her smartphone. The alert showed a video of a stranger outside of her home. He had something in his hand and appeared to try to put it in her mailbox and then under the rug at her front door.

It was too early to be the mailman or someone delivering a package, so Katie couldn’t imagine what the man was up to. She quickly called her husband who checked the porch to see what was going on. The man hadn’t harmed or stolen anything. Instead, what Katie’s husband discovered shocked them both. It was her wallet and everything inside it was still there.
Apparently Katie had dropped her wallet that morning and didn’t realize it. The kind stranger must have picked it up, checked her I.D. for her address, and then brought it to her home. She couldn’t believe how kind the man had been. What could have been a huge headache turned out to not be a big ordeal thanks to the kindness of one stranger.

If you’ve ever had your wallet stolen you know what a headache it can be to have to replace your cards, money, and identification. But there is also the risk of having your identity stolen.
Katie took to social media to share her story and the video of the kind stranger. She says in Washington, D.C. where she lives if you drop a wallet it is typically gone forever and you often lose everything out of your accounts if you’re not quick.
She says today she feels lucky and is counting her blessings. Be sure to share this uplifting story with your family and friends.
