They say that dogs are man’s best friend, but dogs can be friends with more than just a human, and this retriever named Drake is proof of that. He befriended a tiny little goat named Arnold. Arnold was born with crooked legs and no one wanted him. He would have been put down within a couple of days of his birth, but luckily, the Black Goat Farm and Sanctuary came to his rescue.

At the sanctuary, Arnold got splints to support his legs and began physical therapy to start gaining strength. Although the people at the facility loved little Arnold, it was Drake who fell in love with him.

Despite all of Arnold’s trouble, he was still lovable and enjoyed life. He wanted to make friends and have company and the first one to jump at the chance to be the little goat’s friend was the retriever.

Drake loves laying on the couch, and because Arnold’s legs would hurt after a round of physical therapy, he enjoyed napping on the couch too. They quickly became snuggle buddies.

It seems as though his time on the couch must have had a healing affect too. As the two spent more and more time cuddling, little Arnold appeared to be gaining more strength in his legs.

Arnold is getting bigger now and his legs are getting stronger and stronger. Still, Arnold and Drake’s days of cuddling on the couch are far from over. As he grows, he still has pain.

Recently Arnold hit a growth spurt that aggravated the pain in his leg, but he knew just what he needed after getting fitted for a new splint. He headed right to the house and hopped up on the couch with his best buddy.
