We all know how heroic firemen can be. They fight fires, protect us and our homes, and much more for the communities that they are in. That’s why it is so important to thank a firemen when you see one. But once in a while, and probably more often than we realize, firemen go above and beyond the call of duty. That is exactly what happened with one fireman from Wells, Maine.
It all started when a neighbors spotted their neighbors’ husky, Jasper, hanging out in a very unusual spot. Some how the big furry critter had managed to get himself outside on the roof of the house, but was unable to get back inside.
The neighbors feared that Jasper might make a mistake that could really injure him or cost him his life if he was left on the roof so they contacted the local fire department. Jasper was a good 15 feet from the ground, but the Wells Professional Firefighters Association didn’t hesitate to jump to the animal’s rescue. What they found was indeed a dog that was stuck on a roof.

However, Jasper didn’t seem to be upset about his predicament. Captain Jeff Nawfel decided to prop a ladder on the side of the porch and go up to see if the dog would let him get him safely to the ground.
When he got up on the roof, it was discovered that the easier option would be to help Jasper get back inside the home safely and that’s what Nawfel did. But what happened next really caught him off guard.
Before retreating back into the house, Jasper leaned out the window and gave the captain a big sloppy thank you puppy dog kiss. It was as if he knew that the man had come just to rescue him, and he was right!
