While synchronized swimming isn’t typically a fast paced event, a group of synchronized swimmers from Spain decided to take the sport to a whole new level when they sped up their routine and danced to the Led Zeppelin song “Stairway to Heaven.”

The routine, just like the song, starts out slow and melodic, but when the drums and guitars kick in the routine picks up a few notches in speed. As any Led Zeppelin fan knows, the song may start out slow, but by the end, it’s really jamming.

These swimmers were able to match the speed of the song and shocked the audience with their skills.

The eight synchronized swimmers begin with slow synchronized circles and pirouettes before the upbeat music begins. Although they maintain their grace, the result is something extraordinary.

They kick their legs in sync with the fast beat and one of them even gets flipped into the air with the crescendo of the music. All of these things aren’t normally seen in a slow, graceful synchronized swim routine but this was an exceptional choreographed performance.

When the routine makes its graceful closing, the women descend from the water with smiles as the crowd roars their applause for the unusual, but spectacular, routine.
