Josie Desgrand was tired of being bullied for being overweight, so she decided to do something about it. She was just 16 years old when she began taking the steps to drop her weight after tipping the scales at 279 pounds.
She says she started out at 279 pounds and now weighs 132 pounds with a height of 5’7. She says she did it by sticking to a low carb, no sugar diet for two years. Six months into her journey, she started eating natural sugars.
Within the first 12 months, Josie had dropped 138 pounds. She says she doesn’t see her diet as a weight loss plan, but instead, says it is a lifestyle change. She says the first two weeks were the hardest.

It hasn’t been easy every day. She’s had bad days and challenges along the way, but Josie strives to stay positive and just pick herself up and keep moving.
She posts inspirational photos to her Instagram account showing her transformation and says that you have to just make time for it and get it done. Josie says no one ever got in shape by just thinking about and states, “Make time for it. Just get it done. Nobody ever got in shape by thinking about it, just do it! You’ve got this.”
Josie recently stunned people by posting a photo of herself in a form fitting gown for a school dance. She doesn’t even look like the same person and kids are shocked with her new appearance.
She thinks the only thing holding other people back from the same kind of transformation is themselves. She says she had to change her thinking during the process too.

Josie admits that she failed in the past because she dreaded the diets, would starve herself and only eat healthy food. Josie knew this time that she had to change her mindset and approach losing weight with a positive and proactive attitude.
She added: “I wasn’t mentally strong enough to say NO to bad decisions!! BUT my mind has changed completely. I don’t want to touch a single piece of chocolate again in my life! That’s my choice. Living a healthy lifestyle is the best decision I have ever made.”
Josie’s Instagram account has earned her a lot of fans who look to her for inspiration. She recently created a meal planner to help inspire other people, and the planner shows the first few months of what she ate in the beginning of her journey.
