Being a single mother is difficult for anyone, but it is especially hard when you are the parent to a child with special needs. Rebecca Polston knows this all too well, as her 2 year-old son Rhylon has been on dialysis to fight a serious kidney disease since he was just a month old.
Rhylon has to undergo dialysis ten hours every night, and Rebecca is by his side the entire time. Rebecca can’t even work because of the amount of time that she devotes to caring for her son, yet she also relies heavily on her car to take him to appointments.
Last summer, Rebecca was hit with a devastating blow when her car was totaled after being hit by a hit and run driver. With no job and only liability insurance, there was no way Rebecca was going to be able to afford a new car.
Just when she was starting to lose hope, a radio station heard Rebecca’s story and changed everything!
KLTY 94.9 decided to surprise Rebecca and Rhylon by treating them to a meal at a restaurant in Roanoke, Texas. Rebecca thought that the meal was as far as the surprise would go, but she got the shock of her life when she finished eating and walked outside only to be greeted by Bonnie Curry and the #SpeakLove team. This team is made up of people who perform good deeds for people all over the country, and they handed Rebecca a $1,000 check as well as some new toys for her son.
Then, George Grubbs, the owner of a local INFINITI dealership, walked up and presented Rebecca with keys to a brand new car that had been fully paid for! The single mother was overcome with emotion when she realized what had been done for her! Now, she can take care of her son’s needs with a whole lot less stress.
Watch Rebecca’s reaction to this incredible gift in the video below.
