Dillon Reagan still stands behind the decision he made while working at Home Depot in Portland, Oregon, even though his decision ended up costing him his job.

Reagan says he was working at the store’s tool rental center when he and another co-worker heard a woman outside in the parking lot screaming for help.

She was screaming for help because she said a man was trying to take her child and kidnap him. The two employees quickly dialed 911 for help, and they told the employees to follow the kidnapper.

Reagan didn’t hesitate to follow the man for three blocks until authorities could arrive and arrest the man. The child was returned to the safety of his mother.

Upon returning to the store, Reagan was fired for leaving his post because Home Depot has a strict policy of staying inside the store and at your designated post during your working hours.

Reagan says he would do it again though. He says it was one of those situations where you are damned if you do and damned if you don’t. He would choose to help save the child again in a heartbeat.

Since the incident has gone public, Home Depot has offered Reagan his job back saying that they have reviewed the incident and changed their mind. Reagan turned down the offer to remain employed by the retail giant.

What do you think? Did he do the right thing? I think he did. Share this story with your family and friends and see what they think too.
