These days, there seems to be so much negativity in the world that it’s easier to forget that people still do kind things for others. Thankfully, a heartwarming video is going viral this week that serves as a reminder that there are still good people in the world.

Everyone who has ever headed to a hospital waiting room knows how tedious the loads of paperwork you have to fill out can be. This is especially difficult when you have gone to the hospital with your small child. This is exactly the situation that Jade West recently found herself in when she went to a hospital near Birmingham, Alabama with her son, Jayce.

An elderly man named Joe Hill noticed Jade struggling to hold the little boy while filling out the paperwork, so he took action by offering his assistance. Natasha Wilson, who was also in the waiting room at the time, was so touched when she saw what Joe was doing that she snapped a photo.

“I was in the waiting room at the doc office today and this lady walked in with her sleeping baby,” she wrote on Facebook as she shared the photo. “They handed her paperwork to do and as she was sitting there trying to figure out how to hold her sleeping baby while filling out the paperwork, this man, from across the room, asks her if she would like for him to hold her baby. She smiled and said that would be wonderful! This man went over there and rocked and loved on that baby like he was his! My heart melted!”

“I felt relieved and appreciated at the fact that he wanted to help, he seemed really genuine,” Jade later said of Joe. “He talked about how he never stops being a ‘paw paw’ and how he loved kids and just about my baby in general! He was literally just loving on him and talking to him as if he was his own grandchild and had known him his whole life. He was just the sweetest.”

Natasha said she still gets chills when she thinks about what Joe did.

“I just hope people can see this and realize that we can all come together,” she said. “Regardless of skin color, we are all just human and can love one another! I truly believe that if each one of us do our part and teach our children that color doesn’t exist, our next generation could be colorblind.”

It’s so great to see that there really are still good people left in the world!
