It never ceases to amaze us just how amazing creatures in nature can be. There are all sorts of astounding types of critters on this great planet of ours, and while some of them are adorably cute, others are absolutely terrifying.

If you suffer from arachnophobia, you might want to exit out of this story now, because we have just found an enormous type of spider that is as big as a puppy!

Check out the Goliath Birdeater, which has a leg span of up to 11 inches and a body about the size of an adult’s fist. The spider is the size of a newborn puppy, and it can be found in the rainforest of South America. Since the spider lives on the ground, it doesn’t normally eat birds, instead feasting on earthworms, insects, and small rodents.

If you get close to this spider, it will start to release it’s hairs into the air. These hairs can be very irritating to the human skin, so we would suggest that you keep your distance. They hiss by rubbing their legs together, making a noise that can be heard from up to 15 feet away.

Though Goliath Birdeaters are considered to be venomous, they are believed to be harmless to humans. They also like being left alone, meaning that they won’t bother you if you don’t bother them! Thank goodness for that, because I for one, want nothing to do with these spiders!

SHARE this story so your friends and family can see this spider as well!
