Last Tuesday night, CJ Patel’s South Carolina convenience store sold the $1.5 billion winning lottery ticket. As a result, Patel is being given a $50,000 bonus, and he just revealed the surprising thing that he’s planning to do with it.

Patel has been the owner of KC Mart in Simpsonville for over three years, and though he does not know exactly who got the ticket, he hopes he keeps coming back.

“I hope he will keep coming in,” Patel said. “He’d be good for the business.”

Patel also revealed his plans to split his $50,000 bonus with the store’s four other employees.

“Hopefully it will bring us more business,” he said.

The winner of the $1.5 billion prize has not been revealed because South Carolina is one of eight states where lottery winners can remain anonymous. The winner will have 180 days to claim his or her prize, but it seems that nobody has claimed it at this time.

“Our message to the $1.5 BILLION #Mega Millions jackpot winner: Sign the back of the ticket, place the ticket in a safe location, speak with a trusted adviser and CALL THE LOTTERY at 1-866-736-9819,” officials tweeted the day after the lottery. “Take a deep breath and enjoy the moment!”

When pressed to try and remember who the winning customer was, Patel refused to give any further details.

“I have no clue. No idea. We had a lot of customers yesterday, so I have no idea,” he said.

We can only imagine what it must be like to be that lucky winning ticket holder! Hopefully they come forward to claim their prize soon!
