Some people are better at handling their anger than others, and when Elizabeth Lena James’ boyfriend broke up with her, he left his 16-month-old mastiff puppy behind.
Sadly, it didn’t take long before the dog’s health began to fail and he lost weight. It wasn’t however, because he missed his owner. It was for a much more vengeful reason.
Elizabeth had her own dogs to care for, but she refused to take care of Champ. She intentionally starved him, and by the time county’s animal control office was alerted to the situation it was almost too late.
Champ was found barely alive and nothing but skin and bones. He weighed half of what he should have and maggots had taken over his body. The Rescue Dogs Rock NYC group quickly took him in and began fighting for his recovery.
Within one week, he started making big improvements and could finally stand on his own feet again. He began eating and drinking and loved the attention he was getting from the rescue workers.
Eventually he was ready to go to his forever home, and social media followers were thrilled when a couple stepped forward to adopt Champ and claim him as their own.
Just one week before he was suffering a painfully slow death, but thanks to good food, kind people, and excellent medical care, Champ will never be forced to live outside and suffer again.
On October 12, Champ went with his new family to his home in Maryland. His Facebook page reports that his new family loves him to the moon and back. Champ is excited to be starting the next chapter of his life, one that will be the best one yet.

Thank goodness Champ will now have a loving, happy home to live out the rest of his days. If you agree, be sure to share this heartwarming story with your family and friends.
