David Fabila is a father of three who works tirelessly as a waiter at the House of Oliver wine bar in Roseville, California to support his family. He recently showed up to work one day to find that the restaurant was packed with customers. Though he was exhausted, David did not hesitate in getting right to work.

David had no idea that the work ethic that he was exhibiting was being noticed by a very generous customer.

David later explained that he was extremely tired from his other job when he arrived at work at the wine bar.

“I was telling my coworkers that tonight is not my night I’m not having a good night, I just came from my other job, I’m exhausted,” he said.

Though he was tired, David still took care of all of his tables and made sure his customers got everything that they needed.

Later in the night, a small group of young people sat down on the patio and began ordering items off the menu left and right. Their bill ended up being $190, but when David went over to collect their check, he noticed something unusual about it.

“I pulled the check out to close it and when I pulled it out that’s when I saw everything, their bill was very expensive it was like $190-something, that’s exactly the tip they left me… Unless you work in the service industry, you don’t really understand how much tips mean to a server, to a bartender,” he said.

Steffen Berr, the young man who was responsible for giving David a $190 tip, said that he was happy to do so.

“I’ve been in his shoes before too, I used to work as a waiter in a diner in Texas, so I decided to show him what he did is appreciated,” Steffen said. “I’m in a position where I have the resources and luck to do this so why not just go for it, I’m really glad I did it he really needed that money more than I did.”

Steffen was inspired to do this by the “Tip the Bill Challenge,” which has diners tipping 100 percent of the bill. Find out more about this in the video below!
