Grapefruit is known as being one of the healthiest fruits that you could eat. However, experts are now warning that you grapefruit can actually be very dangerous to consume if you are on certain types of medications.
If you’ve ever looked at the labels of some of your medications, you may have noticed that it sometimes says, “do not take this medicine with grapefruit juice.” This is because grapefruit contains a compound that interferes with an enzyme in the small intestine that is meant to break down half of all medicines.
This means that the fruit can either make the medicines too strong or not strong enough by changing the way your body absorbs them. Experts have put together a list of 53 medications that you should make sure to avoid grapefruit while taking.
