The parents of the little boy who was killed at the Walt Disney World Resort by an alligator in 2016 recently announced that they just added another baby boy to their family. Although nothing can replace Lane, who was two at the time of the incident, this new blessing will surely bring the couple some peace.
The new baby was named Christian Lane Graves to carry on the memory of the son they lost. They say they believe that Christian and his sister, Ella, have a guardian angel watching over them.
Lane was attacked by an alligator while playing on the shoreline of the lake at Disney Grand Floridian Resort. He was drug into a nearby lagoon and found dead 16 hours later.

His father, Matt, tried to rescue him by wrestling with the alligator, but a second alligator attacked Matt while the first one slipped away with his son. A 16-hour search ended when Lane’s body was found at the bottom of the lake.
Trappers hired by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission captured and killed five alligators in the area. Although fatal alligator attacks are rare, scientists say that attacks are on the rise, likely due to an increase in human population.

The Graves family did not appear to blame Disney at any time for their son’s death. The tragic accident was the first of it’s kind at the Florida resort, although alligators had been seen and removed from the area before.
After the attack, Disney closed the beaches around all neighboring lakes and put up tape to keep people away from the area. Since then, the story caught national attention and people have been sending their deepest sympathies to the family.

In 2017, Disney unveiled a statue of a lighthouse in honor of Lane Graves that is meant to act as a beacon of hope for families in crisis. Matt and Melissa Graves also launched the Lane Thomas Foundation.
The foundation raises money to cover travel and other expenses for parents of children that need organ transplants. The logo for the foundation was the basis for the statue that now stands at the Disney resort.

Please share this story and help the family continue moving forward in their grieving process by bringing attention to their foundation that honors their son.
