When Amira Willighagen stepped in front of the judges on “Holland’s Got Talent” they assumed she was one more little girl hoping to make it big by singing a cute little girl song, but they were proven wrong. The little girl would shock them with her taste in music and her even bigger voice.
The nine-year-old from Nijmegen in the Netherlands isn’t like your average child singer. Amira had chosen an opera song to wow the judges. The judges still had little faith in Amira’s singing abilities and asked her if they needed ear plugs or if it was safe to listen to her sing. She politely informs them it is safe, and then proceeds to knock their socks off with her talent.
The pint-sized contestant says she was inspired to sing by her brother Vincent who plays violin. He was preparing something special to celebrate Queen’s Day and she wanted to do something special as well. She says that opera is beautiful and soothing and was inspired to look up different opera songs on YouTube to sing.

The song Amira chose is “O Mio Babbino Caro” from the opera “Gianni Schicchi.” The judges sat back waiting for her to begin her rendition of the opera song, obviously thinking she would be one more child they would have to gently let down. But when Amira opens her mouth, the sound that filled the stage was unbelievable.
This self-taught child with only single digits to her age really knows how to sing. Her amazing soprano notes send chills up your arms with their beautiful tones. The judges were left stunned with how talented the little girl really was.
It didn’t take the judges long to realize that Amira was truly talented. By the end of the song, all three judges, and the entire audience, were giving her a standing ovation. What an amazing inspiration this little girl is!
