Michael Conrad, a junior at Taylorsville High School in Utah, was ecstatic when he got a note from a cheerleader asking him to the homecoming dance. Michael always had trouble fitting in with his classmates, so he thought that this invitation meant that they had finally embraced him.
Unfortunately, this all ended up being a cruel prank by a bully that left Michael devastated. His teacher Jenn Palomino was heartbroken when she found out what had happened, so she called up a friend of hers.
This friend happened to be former Miss Lehi, Caitlin Thomas, who also was saddened when she heard the story. Caitlin reached out to current Miss Greater Salt Lake, Dexonna Talbot.
“The second I heard about this, I knew I wanted to do something,” Dexonna said. “I automatically broke down into tears, because just thinking about the fact that someone would go out of their way to make someone else feel bad is so heartbreaking to me.”

Dexonna walked right into Michael’s classroom a few weeks ago and asked him to the homecoming dance in front of everyone! She said that she is planning to spend the afternoon at an arcade with Michael before taking him to the dance. A local business even agreed to donate a limousine to them for the occasion!
“I’ve never been to a dance in a limo!” Dexonna exclaimed. “I wanted to make sure that this was a homecoming and experience that he remembers in a positive way.”
Michael still doesn’t know who left him the note, but he said that he’s not worried about it.
“You can’t pin me down,” he said. “I’ll always get back up.”

One of my students was recently the target of a bullying incident where some kids decided to make up a fake homecoming proposal. Well jokes on them because today Miss Greater Salt Lake came and asked HIM to homecoming. Bullying is lame and kindness always wins. pic.twitter.com/wgWBPAKEcC
