Make-A-Wish is an organization that hands out wishes to children who are battling serious diseases. Understandably, most kids choose to use their wishes on things like a trip to Disney World or meeting their favorite celebrity. However, a 9 year-old boy from Watertown, South Dakota decided to use his wish on something very different, and it shows just how selfless he is as a person.

Javier Amos was battling leukemia when he was granted a wish by Make-A-Wish. Thankfully, he is now in remission!

When Javier was approached about what he wanted his wish to be, he immediately knew what he wanted to do. The little boy shocked everyone by deciding to use his wish to throw a pizza party for all of his friends at school!

“Out of all the wishes we have granted, this has got to be one of the most unique ones,” said Make-A-Wish South Dakota Program Services Director Joe Evenson. “For a kid his age to be able to do what he’s doing today, he could have literally went anywhere in the world, chosen to met anybody he wanted to or had anything he wanted.”

After spending much of the last year in the hospital undergoing chemotherapy, Javier missed his friends, and he just wanted to spend time with them. Last Friday, Javier’s wish came true when he arrived at school in a police car, and found all of his school waiting for him with signs and costumes.

After two hours of classes, all of Javier’s McKinley Elementary schoolmates were treated to pizza before they played laser tag and enjoyed inflatable slides, bouncy houses and obstacle courses. It was a party that none of them will ever forget!

Javier’s parents are very lucky to have such a caring and strong boy for a son! Check out his party below!
