If you have small children, you’ve likely seen them come home from school with those cute paper handprint crafts. Sadly, these crafts often end up falling apart fairly quickly. That’s why we’d like to show you these shrinky dink handprint keychains!
These handprints are both fun and easy to make, and your kids will love watching them shrink down to a miniature size! In just fifteen minutes, you can make a miniature size of your child’s handprint that you can take with you everywhere!

Here’s what you need for this project:
- Shrinky Dink plastic
- acrylic paint
- sharpie
- scissors
- hold punch
- jump ring
- baking sheet
- parchment paper
- split ring keyring
First, paint your child’s entire hand, but be sure to not make it so wet that it becomes too drippy.

Once you have done this, put your child’s hand onto the Shrinky Dinks plastic, making sure you push it down firmly to get a good print.

Hold the plastic down on the table as you take your child’s hand off of it.

Wait for the handprint to dry, then flip the plastic over and add your child’s name, age or year to the other side with a Sharpie.

Let the sharpie dry, and then cut the handprint out with scissors.

Before you bake the handprint, be sure to punch a hole in it!

Place your handprint onto a baking sheet with the paint facing up, pre-heat the oven to 325°F and bake for 2-3 minutes. You can take it out when the handprint stops moving and has gone mostly, if not completely, flat again.

Put the handprint on your keychain, and you can take your child’s handprint with you everywhere!
