Neijae Graham-Henries is just 7 years-old, but she has already found her calling in life, and she wants to use it to help as many people in need as she can!
Neijae became a certified barber before she even started second grade, and since then, she has been giving free haircuts to kids in the Philadelphia area as a way of serving her community. She first got interested in cutting hair when she went with her brother to check out the Junior Barber Academy. Though her brother had no interest in doing hair, Neijae was immediately transfixed.
“When we came back home, she saw some of the information on social media and she said, ‘Mom, he doesn’t want to do it, I’ll give it a go,’” said Jamie Graham, Neijae’s mother. “She wasn’t intimidated because she was the youngest student and she was not intimidated because she was the only female.”
Michael Boone, owner of the academy, said that though Neijae is his youngest student, she has a ton of talent.
“Neijae was 7 years old when she came through our program,” he said.
Since completing, Neijae has been loving cutting hair.
“The whole process is to finish it and do it really good and to, like, style it good,” Neijae said. When asked who her ideal celebrity client would be, she had an answer ready.
“Donald Trump, he has too much long hair, so I would cut it,” said Neijae.
It warms my heart to see a young girl using her gift to help others! Find out more about Neijae in the video below!
