There’s nothing as strong as the bond between a mother and her child, which is why it’s always a powerful moment when mothers are reunited with their kids. This is especially powerful when a mother is reunited with her child after the baby has been kidnapped, and the video below shows that moms do not have to be human to have an emotional reaction to seeing her baby once again.
The video below was captured at the Orangutan Jungle School, and it shows the moment an orangutan named Clara was reunited with her baby, Clarita, who had been kidnapped by a dominant male. Staffers at the park were able to get Clarita back from the male, but they feared that Clara would reject the baby after they were reunited. Orangutans are known to reject their babies if they stop smelling them, so caretakers were nervous about how Clara would respond to Clarita.
“The mother can reject the baby when the baby smells different like the first time,” one caretaker explained.

Clara and Clarita were reintroduced to each other slowly, and they were separated by a cage at first for the baby’s safety. However, as soon as caretakers saw Clara reach her hand out to Clarita through the cage, they knew they had no reason to fear!
In the video below, you’ll see Clara finally get the chance to hold her daughter in her arms again, and she does not hesitate to give her all of the love that she deserves! We’re so glad to see that Clara and Clarita’s story had a happy ending!
