When driving on the highway, it’s always tempting to veer into the high-occupancy vehicle lane, also known as the carpool lane. In order to be in this lane legally, you must have a passenger with you, so solo drivers have to resort to creative cheats if they want to drive in this lane without getting a ticket from police.
Police in Washington state just took to Twitter to share the most creative carpool lane cheats that they have seen. The first one involved a man using a Halloween skeleton to try and make it look like he had a passenger!
“This driver NB I5 at I405 in Sno County was dying to not get caught with this passenger, there’s no bones about it! Another HOV violator stopped by WSP,” tweeted Trooper H. Axtman, the Washington State Patrol’s District 7 public information officer.

Trooper Rick Johnson of District 2 tweeted another cheat in which there was a pillow dressed in a hoodie and holding a cup of coffee and a tablet.

Finally, Axtman shared a photo of a “creepy” dummy that appears to be a mannequin wearing a surgical mask, a hoodie and a pair of glasses.
Don’t be fooled by this “dummy”, they won’t be able to produce any identification! The driver of this car was stopped by one our WSP ? ?♂️for HOV violation SB I-5 in Lynnwood this morning. #creepy #hovemphasis pic.twitter.com/ESa4XyNLjU
