Fans of the classic sitcom “I Dream of Jeannie” are in mourning this week after star Bill Daily, who portrayed Major Roger Healey on the show, passed away of natural causes. He was 91 years-old.

Daily starred on “I Dream Of Jeannie” for five seasons from 1965-1970. He then portrayed Howard Borden on “The Bob Newhart Show” from 1972 to 1978.

“I Dream of Jeannie” star Barbara Eden took to Twitter to pay tribute to her former costar.

“Our favorite zany astronaut, Bill Daily has passed. Billy was wonderful to work with. He was a funny, sweet man that kept us all on our toes. I’m so thankful to have known and worked with that rascal. Until we meet again Billy, xo -B,” she wrote.

Newhart also took to Twitter to honor Daily.

“Bill Daily & I go back to Chicago in the 50’s. He and I were both trying to get into standup. Later, he joined the Bob Newhart Show. He was our bullpen guy – you could always go to him. He was one of the most positive people I’ve ever known. I will miss him dearly,” he wrote.

Daily’s other work included appearances on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Love Boat” in 1979. He later returned to his role as Healey for two “I Dream of Jeannie” TV movie spin-offs in 1985 and 1991.

Rest in peace, Bill Daily!
