The past few years has seen an increase in glamorous camping, otherwise known as glamping. It has become a hot trend in summer travel and includes everything from big campers to teepees and decked out tents. Now there is one more kind of glamping experience to add to your bucket list.
The latest glamping experience will let you go back to the days of the Oregon Trail. It’s based at Yosemite Pines RV Resort and Family Lodging and offers two Conestoga wagon replicas as accommodations.
The largest wagon contains a king size bed and two sets up bunk beds to sleep up to six people. The smaller wagon sleeps four people with one king size bed and one bunk bed. Don’t worry, there are even restroom and shower facilities right next door.

Both wagons feature air conditioning, heat, refrigerator, and microwave, so we’re not sure this is exactly roughing it. Just a few steps away there is a fire pit perfect for making s’mores. There’s also a family-friendly petting zoo close by, but you don’t have to worry about any oxen.
The nightly rate for a Conestoga wagon starts at $179 in the summer season. For this month, Yosemite Pines is offering a buy one get one night free special when you call 209-962-7690 and use the code WAGONINTRO.

This isn’t the only place you can step back in time for a few nights. There are other glamping sites too. Capital Reef Resort and Conestoga Ranch in Utah both feature covered wagons that are available seasonally.
At Rock Creek Station State Historical Park you can still wee the deep ruts carved by the wagons and watch living history demonstrations and the Oregon Trail Ruts State Historic Site & National Landmark in Wyoming boasts some of the deepest wagon ruts. Both places are worth visiting before retiring to a modern hotel room.

What do you think? Is this kind of glamping for you? I didn’t know these places existed, but I’m definitely adding them to my bucket list. Be sure to share this story with your family and friends so they can add them to their next vacation spot too.
