Few issues with household appliances are more annoying to deal with then problems with the toilet. It’s no wonder that plumbers make around $100 an hour specifically because a non-working toilet is not an option.

Since plumbers can get to be expensive, we’ve compiled six simple hacks that will make it easier for you to fix your toilet yourself. Scroll through these and see which ones can work for you!

Clean the Toilet Bowl Without Using a Brush

It goes without saying that toilet bowls are full of stains. It turns out that you don’t actually need to use a brush to clean it! Kool-Aid is a substance that can remove the stains without using harmful chemicals. All you have to do is pour some Kool-Aid into the bowl and let it sit overnight before flushing it down in the morning!

Weak Flush

You can end up wasting a lot of water by flushing over and over again, but there’s actually a simple solution to this issue. Just find the float in the toilet tank, which is either a black rubber ball or a black piece on a long rod, and adjust it higher to allow more water to fill the tank.

Broken Handle

All toilet handles break eventually. To fix this, just lift the lid of the tank and tighten the screw at the back.

Unclog Pipes

If you try flushing your toilet to unclog the pipes, you’ll end up swimming in toilet water. You can fix this by combining hot water and dishwashing detergent and pouring it into the toilet bowl. Wait at least an hour to allow the mixture to break down the blockage and allow that obstruction to get flushed with ease.

Unclog The Toilet

All toilets get clogged at some point, and you end up having to use a plunger to remove the obstruction and get the water flowing again. If your toilet fills up with water, remove half of it, and fill the toilet bowl if it’s half empty. Once you have done this, place the plunger over the opening, push down, and thrust.

Sewer Smell

If the foul smell isn’t being caused by a sewage problem in your neighborhood, you will need to get creative in deodorizing the smell. If the odor won’t go away, we suggest that you use a few drops of your favorite essential oil in the toilet tank, instead of the toilet bowl.
