Dolphins are beautiful, majestic creatures and there aren’t very many humans that aren’t just fascinated with them. Most of us would love to have a chance to swim with them. But sometimes, the adorable sea creature isn’t as gentle as you might think.
A beach in Brittany, France, has been forced to ban swimming due to a lone male dolphin, but it’s not for the reason you might think. The three-meter dolphin, named Zafar, has been rubbing himself against boats and kayaks for sexual gratification.
He’s also been trying to stop people from swimming away from him. In one instance, he even forced a woman up out of the water using his nose. What’s unusual is that Zafar hasn’t ever been this way before.

Zafar has been swimming around these waters for months, even letting people grab his dorsal fin and hang on for a swim. It wasn’t until recently that he started terrorizing swimmers instead.
It is policy of Landévennec, Roger Lars according to the mayor, to ban swimming and diving whenever a dolphin has been confirmed near the shore. Although he says it is quite rare for a dolphin to take out their sexual frustrations on a human.
Wildlife experts say that dolphins mate year round, and appear to enjoy recreational sex just like humans. They say that male dolphins will even force females into having sex as well.

Even knowing this, some people think the ban has went too far and ruined the reputation of dolphins. They say that if a ban like this is in place, then they should ban dogs, and even some people for similar behavior.
Some people, however, have just gotten a good laugh out of the ban. What do you think? Did the mayor make the right choice? Share this story with your friends and see what they think.
