A baby puppy was abandoned in the streets of Rode, India, and he needed help. But it wasn’t a human that picked up the poor pup and made sure he was okay. It was someone entirely different, and someone you wouldn’t have expected at all.

It was a wild monkey that first noticed the baby puppy. His paternal instincts kicked in and he immediately adopted the pup as his own. He took care of the baby providing it with food, shelter, and anything else he needed to be safe.

The wild monkey could be seen all over the area with the pup clutched up tightly to his chest, just like the monkey would have done to a baby of it’s own. The duo have become rather famous in the area too. People love seeing the pair together so much that they even leave food out for them to stay healthy.

Whenever the pair find food, the monkey always lets the pup eat first, just like any good parent. Then he eats whatever is left. The monkey also grooms the pup taking care of any fleas and mites, so the pup is in much better health than he would be without his monkey caretaker.

The pup clearly knows the monkey is his friend, because when the monkey does sit him down, he never attempts to run away. He stays right by his adoptive father’s side.

And when it’s time to go to bed for the night. The monkey swoops the pup right up into the tree tops with him to make sure he’s safe through the night.

Although most of the time the two species would avoid each other, these two clearly have an inseparable bond. Because monkeys have a strong sense of family, it really isn’t surprising that this monkey would take to the abandoned pup the way he did.
