Luther Younger is a 98 year-old man who has been married to his wife Waverlee for over 50 years. During their long marriage, Luther has always been there for Waverlee through her numerous health problems. She is paralyzed, and she has been battling brain cancer since she was diagnosed back in 2009.

Waverlee has been hospitalized for the last two weeks, and Luther has insisted on walking six miles to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York every day to visit her, even when it’s raining! Luther has always been an avid walker, and he has no problem walking this long distance if it means he will get to see his wife.

“She’s the best cup of tea I ever had,” Luther said. “I ain’t nothing [without Waverlee].”

His daughter Lutheta has been offering her father rides to the hospital each day, but he is so excited to see Waverlee that he can’t stand to wait for her to get off work and take him to see her, so he walks himself. Lutheta started a GoFundMe account to pay for rides and medical expenses, and she has since raised over $46,000 for Luther! People all over the world have been inspired to donate, as they are touched by the love Luther has for Waverlee.

It’s incredibly touching to see the love between Luther and Waverlee! She is one lucky woman to have a husband like him!
